We were going to get the Loch Ness Express from Inverfarigaig Pier down to Fort Augustus but we were told that the boat was unable to stop at the pier until the landing jetty has been approved by the powers that be! This was a disappointment as we were really looking forward to going on the boat. Also we do promote this unique service to our guests, who can stroll down to the pier from Aspenwood Cottage after phoning for the Express to pick them up there. Drove to Fort Augustus instead but it wasn't so exciting. The lock gates were full of hired cruisers on one side and long Scottish Highlander barge on the other waiting to be allowed out on to Loch Ness. The Royal Scot was waiting for passengers who wanted a short trip out on the loch and back. We went on this several years ago and it was fascinating to see the different shoals of fish show up on the sonar screen. We sat up on the top deck and got soaked with the spray.
