Cottage Diary - Aspenwood self catering luxury Holiday Cottage overlooking Loch Ness in the Highlands of Scotland.

After a very pleasant week of Spring sunshine the weather turned quite nasty on Sunday. We had a very blustery night and were woken up by a strong south-westerly wind and pouring rain. This combination made the water on the loch produce quite high swells and alot of white water. Even so this did not deter some hardy sailors and we could only watch in amazement as they bobbed up and down with the wind behind them helping them speed on their way.The Loch Ness Express trip we had planned was cancelled due to the high winds. The good thing is that we can look at the weather forecast in the morning and if it seems fair we just phone ahead for the Express to stop and then stroll down to Inverfarigaig pier by 11.30. Today everything has calmed down and we were pleased to see the Express speed past our house on its journey to Fort Augustus. It really is quite thrilling to sit out the back and watch the spray from the boat but even better on a dry day. Hopefully we will be on it soon.
