Highland coos in the heather.

Went out to Inverness airport where we needed to gain some information. The airport has really expanded so much since we have lived here and many of our guests now fly/drive to the cottage. This saves so much valuable time which is precious on a holiday. We drove the long way home via Daviot and passed the new herd of Highland cattle at Farr knee deep in heather. They are magnificent big beasts. We turned off the main road and headed off to Loch Ruthven. Unfortunately the car park was full so we carried on our journey home - always come back another day. Felt like an adventure so took the 'corkscrew' road - so called because of its twists and turns at the end down to Loch Ness visible in the distance - not for the faint hearted. The heather is in bloom earlier than usual and provides a marvellous burst of colour against the overcast skies.
